OBITUARY - ARLENE (RIPKEY) SHUEY

Arlene SHUEY, 81, of Mount Ayr and formerly of Gilbert, died Saturday, April 30, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Arlene SHUEY was born May 10, 1923, in Story City, to John and Iva (KERSEY) RIPKEY. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1941. She had been a member of Gilbert Congregational Church. She and her husband, James E. SHUEY, owned and operated Eva Lake Resort in Ontario, Canada. She loved the outdoors, fishing, oil painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and the Lord.

She is survived by one daughter, Judith (Dan) CUNNING of Mount Ayr; two sons, Matthew SHUEY of Randall and Shannon SHUEY of Nevada; five grandchildren; one brother, John RIPKEY of Saylorville; four sisters, Velva (Jim) HOGFELDT of Rockford, Ill., Vera RIPKEY of Ames, Theda GAMMON of Ames and Virginia OTTO of Indian River, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Sam SHUEY; and one sister, Marie HEIN.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
