OBITUARY - JOHN WESLEY SHIELDS.

"Be not dismayed what e'er betide,
God will take care of you.
Beneath His wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.
Thro'ev'ry day, o'er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

We all hope and pray that God has taken care of our departed husband, son, father, and brother, John Wesley SHIELDS.

John Wesley SHIELDS, son of James T. and Ellen SHIELDS, was born August 12, 1873, at Pryan Mill, Mo. At the age of 21 he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Lilly REED, of Owensville, Mo., August, 1894. To this union three children were born: Otto SHIELDS, of Talmage, Neb.: Mrs. Ben SHULTE, of Owensville, Mo.; and Lester SHIELDS, of Des Moines, Iowa. On March 15, 1908, in the vicinity of Talage, Neb., the Heavenly Father called his wife to Himself in heaven. The Rev. DUERSCHNER officiating at this funeral service.

On the 20th of November, 1920, the deceased was again united in holy wedlock to Mrs. Laura McGAHUEY. God blessed this union with two children, Maxine and Pauline. In 1915 the deceased united with the Charter Oak Christian church of Talmage, Neb. After leaving Nebraska the deceased lived in Colorado for a short time. From there he moved to Iowa, where he remained the rest of his life. He departed this life September 9, 1927, at his home in Kellerton, Iowa, at the age of 54 years and 27 days.

One brother, William SHIELDS, preceded him into eternity. Those who mourn his departure are his beloved wife, his five children, two step-children, Ruth and Dwayne, his aged mother, one sister, Mrs. Laura NIXON, of Canaan, Mo., and one brother, Walter SHIELDS, of Talmage, Neb., and many other relatives and friends.

The body was taken Sunday afternoon to Talmage, Neb., where the funeral services were conducted at the German Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2:30, and interment made in the Lutheran cemetery. The funeral party was composed of Mr. and Mrs. Ben SHULTE and children of Owensville, Mo.; Mrs. Laura NIXON, Mrs. Ellen SHIELDS, of Canaan, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto SHIELDS, Mr. and Mrs. Walter SHIELDS, of Talmage, Neb.; Lester SHIELDS, of Des Moines; Mrs. SHIELDS and children of Kellerton; Mr. and Mrs. Lyman BAKER, Mr. and Mrs. D. G. DANIELS and daughter, of Mount Ayr.
