OBITUARY - CHARLES JUNIOR SHIELDS

Charles Junior SHIELDS, 82, of Mount Ayr died Jan. 1, 2006, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Edward SHIELDS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. Family visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Mount Ayr Health Care Center and Assembly of God Church in Kellerton.

Mr. SHIELDS, son of Bertha (CALDWELL) and Charles B. SHIELDS, was born April 13, 1923, in Caledonia. On May 29, 1942, he married Mabel L. FLOREA. He was a farmer and member of the Assembly of God Church in Kellerton.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel SHIELDS of Mount Ayr; two sons, Barton (wife Barbara) SHIELDS of Mount Ayr and Joe (wife Margaret) SHIELDS of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren, Christy (husband Judd) BOWEN of Kellerton, Lanette SHIELDS of Johnston, Joshua (wife Christi) SHIELDS of Mount Ayr, John SHIELDS of Fort Dodge and Elizabeth (husband Jim) CRIMMINS of Ames; seven great-grandchildren, Allie, Kelcie, MacKenzie and Kaylie SHIELDS of Mount Ayr, and Trevor GOODING, Charley and Macey BOWEN of Kellerton; brother Victor (wife Vernice) SHIELDS of Mount Ayr; sister-in-law Pauline SHIELDS of Corvallis, Ore.; stepsister Irene (HOOVER) (husband Kenneth) ISRAEL of Highland Park, Calif.; brother-in-law William J. (wife Dorene) FLOREA of Sun City West, Ariz.; sister-in-law Ann (husband Thomas) DENNIS of Nixa, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Lester HOOVER; brother Carroll SHIELDS of Corvallis, Ore.; sister Donella JANSSEN of Cedar Rapids; stepbrother Lee HOOVER of Ames; brother- and sister-in-law Virgil and Margie FLOREA of Denver, Colo.; two sisters-in-law Garland BACHMAN of Hardy, Ark., and Strausie FLOREA of Sun City, Ariz.
