The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1925

OBITUARY.

Died at her home in this place Friday, July 31st, 1925, Mrs. Chas. Shaw, after an illness of some months, although bed-fast but a few days. Kate PARKER was born in Canton, Ill., October 1867 and united in marriage to Charles SHAW in April 1893. To this union eight children were born, three of whom died in infancy. Two sons and three daughters are living to mourn the loss of a good and affectionate mother, also eight grandchildren who will miss an indulgent grandmother besides the bereaved husband and the two sisters and six brothers. Two brothers and one sister having preceded her in death and many friends and neighbors she has gained during the five years she has lived in this place. The funeral was held at the M. E. church at ten o'clock, Thursday morning, conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. M. NICHOLS, who spoke feelingly and expressed the high regard in which she was held by her friends and neighbors. The hymns chosen by the family were sung and the floral offerings bearers were of the O.A.O. Club of which she was a member. The rain made the trip to the East Union Cemetery near Murray difficult, where the burial service was held [Union Cemetery near Murray, Clarke County, Iowa]. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for their works do follow them."

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to thank the many friends and neighbors who assisted during the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother.
Also for the beautiful floral offerings, silent tokens in rememberance of our dear departed one.
