OBITUARY - JOHN M. NEFF.

John M. NEFF was born in Ashland county, Ohio, March 22, 1844, and departed this life at the home of his niece, Mrs. P[erry] B. BASSINGER [Ida (LEMELY)], March 16, 1926, aged eighty-one years, eleven months and twenty-four days.

Uncle John NEFF, as he was commonly called, enlisted at the age of eighteen in Company C, Ohio Infantry of Volunteers, July 3, 1861, and served unitl the close of the war. Although many times he was in the very jaws of death he was never wounded. Just after the close of the war he started from Ohio with a team and wagon and landed in Ringgold county, just north of Maloy, October 16, 1866.

He was united in marriage to Ruhama LEMLEY in 1875. To this union one child was born, Gertrude NEFF of David City, Neb. His wife departed this life February 17, 1914. Mr. NEFF was a long time resident of Conway until of late years when he went to live with his niece, who tenderly cared for him. He was a patient sufferer, always thinking of others rather than himself.

He leaves to mourn his going one daughter, Gertrude, two sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

While we mourn because of separation, we have great hopes of meeting in that bright and happy land where sorrow never comes and parting will be no more.

Card of Thanks.

We wish to take thise means of thanking our friends and neighbors who have so kindly aided us in caring for our father and uncle.
GERTRUDE NEFF.
