OBITUARY

Glenn BEAR, son of Frank and Anna BEAR, was born April 25, 1906 on a farm near Kellerton, Iowa and passed away July 6, 1971at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr at 5:25 a.m., at the age of 72 years, two months and 11 days.

Glenn lived in the Kellerton community most of his life. On September 29, 1928 he was united in marriage to Eula BROCKWAY of Douglas, Wyoming. To this union were born four sons and five daughters. The first two years of their marriage was spent in Wyoming before moving to Iowa in November of 1930. They were engaged in farming in the Kellerton community except for four years of farming in Missouri. They returned to Iowa in 1951 and farmed until retirement in 1971 when they moved into Kellerton to make their home.

Glenn enjoyed good health until 1972 when he suffered a stroke and had surgery from which he never fully recovered and needed constant care in the Clearview Nursing Home.

Glenn was preceded in death by two infant sons, two sisters, one brother, his parents and four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Eula, sons, Donald, recently of Dayton, Ohio and Ted of rural Tingley; daughters, Shirley CHASE of Drexel, Mo., Beverly PETERMAN of Nevada, Mo., Karen BAJER of Roland, Iowa, Eula Jean SCHRIEVER of Farmington, Minn. and Betty Jo LONG of Humble, Texas; also two daughters-in-law, Darlene and Bryce, and three sons-in-law, Lawrence CHASE, Charles PETERMAN and Jerry LONG.

Living in California and Iowa are Glenn's brothers and sisters - Gladys and Lee BEAL of Summit City, Frata and Alvin BACH of San Jose, Reuben and Dorothy BEAR of San Mateo, Calif. and Theola BARBOUR of Des Moines, Doris and Robert CAMPBELL of Indianola and Orville and Donna BEAR of Tingley. There are 22 grandchildren, five of whom are married, and three great-grandchildren. Rev. Walter ZARR conducted the funeral service held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Rhoades-Wilson funeral home in Mount Ayr. Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Weldon MEADOWS, who accompanied vocalists Arlen HUGHES and Allen HUGHES.

Casketbearers were Glen PAYTON, Carl WARRICK, Frank WEHRLE, Harold AKRES, Richard O'DELL and Clair WOOLLUMS. Honorary casketbearers were James PAYTON, Ora FUGATE, Elton PRIEST and Frank BIERLEIN. Burial was in Oliver Cemetery [Ringgold County, Iowa].
