OBITUARY - MRS. FRANCIS DAILEY

Elizabeth Jane BARNES was born in Green County, Pa.,1809, married [August 13, 1829] in [Guernsey Co.] Ohio to Francis DAILEY. They moved to Iowa and settled near Mt. Pleasant in 1848; came to Ringgold County in 1875. She attended church at Benton on December 21, and died very suddenly Tuesday evening, December 23, 1890. She was 81-years-old.

When a school girl at the age of 14, she joined the M.E. Church, and for sixty-seven years she faithfully followed in the footsteps of the master. As the weight of the years bore heavily upon her, we have repeatedly heard her express an anxiety to lay down the cross and take up the crown. How true the writing of Paul: "Though our outward man perish, yet the inner man is renewed day by day."

Her husband and three children, two of them soldiers, have passed on before. Twenty-eight children and grandchildren mourn her loss. She was buried at the Marshalltown Cemetery. Bro. THOMPSON and Bro. THARP assisted Bro. HIMEBAUGH at the funeral exercise.

Elizabeth Jane (BARNES) DAILEY was the daughter of Ford BARNS (born 22 may 1787, Greene Co. PA) and Jane (HENNEN) DAILEY (born 06 Oct 1786, Dunkard Twp., Greene Co. PA). Francis Faron DAILEY was born January 10, 1805, Seneca Co. NY.

Francis and Elizabeth were the parents of eight children:
