OBITUARY - LOUEVA COLLEEN (SHAUGHNESSY) McGEHEE

Loueva Colleen SHAUGHNESSY, daughter of Clifford and Leona (GRAVES) SHAUGHNESSY, was born November 14, 1914, in rural Kellerton, Iowa. She passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 24, 2007, at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 10 days.

She lived at Kellerton the first seven years of her life, then moving with the family to Delphos where they lived until 1928. The family then came to Mount Ayr where she spent the remainder of her life. She attended school in Ringgold County. She worked many years in restaurants and two grocery stores in Mount Ayr.

Loueva was married to Kenneth McGEHEE on May 28, 1931, in South Dakota. To this union two sons, Max Eugene "Ike" McGEHEE, and Gerald Keith "Ted" McGEGEE, were born.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who worked hard at her jobs and in her home – keeping her house spotlessly clean and was a superb cook, collecting and enjoying cookbooks.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Kenneth, on June 23, 1995; her son, Ted; her parents, Cliff and Leona SHAUGHNESSY; a brother, Clifford, Jr., who died in infancy, and her sister, Oy Lucille SICKELS.

Left to mourn her passing are her son, Max “Ike” McGEHEE, and wife, Mari, of Mount Ayr; her granddaughter, Mitzi HYMBAUGH, and husband, Jim, of Mount Ayr; her grandson, Mike McGEHEE, and wife, Tracey, of Creston; and six great-grandchildren, Michael (wife Rachel) HYMBAUGH; Michelle (husband Jeff) HINES; Matthew HYMBAUGH; Jacob McGEHEE; Ashley McGEHEE; and Brooke McGEHEE; several nieces and nephews, many friends and acquaintances.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2007 from Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
