OBITUARY - BETTY LOUISE (DUSENBERRY) CASE

Betty Louise (DUSENBERRY) CASE was born on June 7, 1921 at Lorimor, Iowa. She was the eldest daughter of Leon W. & Caroline Maude (BURKHEIMER) DUSENBERRY. Betty departed us to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Ringgold County Hospital at the age of 85.

As a child Betty’s family lived at Lorimor for 2 years and then moved to Thayer for 14 years. She then moved to Beaconsfield, IA where she graduated in 1939.

On February 4, 1942 she was married to Vaughn Andrew CASE in Bethany, Missouri. To this union 2 children were born, Charles Rolland on October 23, 1932 and Marcia Ann on July 7, 1947.

Betty & Vaughn made their home on a farm ¾ mile south of Ellston, Iowa. Betty worked at the Ringgold County Hospital & Sunny Slope & Mt. Ayr Health Care and also spent many hours working on the farm with Vaughn.

Betty enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing until her health would no longer permit it. Betty always enjoyed listening to the Bethany & Creston radio stations & writing down recipes. She spent lots of time writing letters & sending cards. Almost every card she ever sent had a short note. Betty & Vaughn both loved watching “Gather.” “Guy Lombardo” & “Lawrence Welk” on Saturday nights & her last moments were spent listening to them.

Betty always took part in all her grandkids events. She would never miss one as long as she knew about them. She even enjoyed going to Josh’s baseball games & Christmas concerts even though he should have practiced a little more. Betty was quite a musician in her time.

On January 4, 2007, Betty suffered a heart attack at the Ringgold County Hospital. She was lucky enough to be able to have her grandson, Darrel ride along on the helicopter ride to Des Moines. Betty was then transferred back to the Ringgold County Hospital where she enjoyed watching the red cardinal each day and became close to many of the workers there. On January 29th she became a resident of Mount Ayr Health Care Center. She was lucky enough to have both Troy & Breanne, (her favorite "nurses in training") with her on her last day there.

February 16th Betty became quite ill & was transferred back to the hospital where she passed away the following evening.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Shirley RICHARDSON in December 1975, Mary Jane LANDOLT in November 1998 and Marjorie McCONNELL in December 2006, a daughter, Marcia Ann WHARAM on February 24, 1997, & grandson Travis CASE on February 8, 2002.

Left to cherish her memory are husband of 65 years, Vaughn, son, Charles Rolland & wife Sharon, grandchildren, Darrel (wife Tami) & Lywanda CASE; great-grandchildren, Joshua Brandon CASE, Zachary Vaughn CASE & Travis Alan CASE, Jr. and step-granddaughter, Dacia LEYTHAM.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2007, United Methodist Church, Ellston, Iowa.
