OBITUARY - RUSSELL MITCHELL BOYD

Russell Mitchell BOYD was born in Tingley, Iowa, August 7, 1925, to John and Alice (MITCHELL) BOYD and died in Columbus, Ohio on March 21, 2007.

Russell grew up in Tingley, Iowa. He attended Tarkio College and graduated with a degree in education. He taught school in Clearmont, Missouri, Rock Port, Missouri, and Tingley, Iowa. He also coached basketball during those years. He obtained his Master’s Degree from Drake University and entered administration in the Mount Ayr school system, The Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, and Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. He retired to Florida where he enjoyed doing wood working and wood carving. He transformed an area into a complete woodworking shop where he and several friends got together regularly to produce some beautiful items.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice; a son John Charles; and wife DonNell.

Russell is survived by his wife Rosemary and her family; sister Mary Alice HUCKABA and family; daughter Kathryn (Robert) WEBBER and family; step-daughter Kay FARIS; step-son-in-law Lyle FARIS and family; and step-son Steven JOHNSTON and family.

Services were held Friday, March 30, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Wilson - Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe Street, Mount Ayr, IA 50854
