THE DEATH of PETER MOFFATT.

Peter MOFFATT living near Caledonia in Lotts Creek township, and one of Ringgold county's old and respected citizens, died at his home after a brief illness early on Sunday morning, August 26, 1894, aged seventy-one years and eleven days. Mr. MOFFATT had passed his early life in Nova Scotia. He came to Ringgold county in 1858, and soon settled in the home where he has since resided. In his intercourse with his fellow men, he was always gentlemanly and made himself generally agreeable. He had many warm friends who regarded him as a good citizen and sincere christian.

He had for years been a devoted member of the Baptist church and showed his faith by his works. He has been useful in life and will be missed in death.

He was taken suddenly ill on last Saturday and grew worse fast until the end came. The funeral took place Tuesday at 10 a.m., at the residence and was conducted by his pastor Rev. T. H. JONES of Eagleville, Mo. He leaves a wife and children, to all of whom his memory will be a precious legacy.

NOTE: Peter MOFFATT was born on August 14, 1823. His wife, Eliza Ann, was born on March 5, 1831, and died on December 14, 1914. Peter and Eliza Ann were interred at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
