OBITUARY - MAXINE (SEGO) COMBS

Maxine COMBS was born October 10, 1919 in the farm home of her parents, Frank SEGO and Katie (BAKER) SEGO near Denver, MO. She died June 15, 2008 in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, IA.

Maxine graduated from the Grant City, Missouri high school with the class of 1937. She married Harold W. A. "Bib" COMBS on September 1, 1945 in Troy, KS. One son, Michael, was born to this union. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Redding neighborhood until retiring to their Mount Ayr home.

Maxine was a housewife and worked with Bib on the farm. She also worked as bookkeeper at the sale barn in Grant City and as a LPN at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Maxine will be remembered for excellence in her work and faithfulness. She was always a cheerful friend and willing to help where there was a need. She was a member of the Redding United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Eastern Star.

Those who will miss her presence but cherish precious memories are her husband Bib COMBS; her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Gloria COMBS of Mt. Ayr; sister Bernice CRAVEN of Albany, MO; sister Agnes (Bill) EVERT; brother Robert (Darlene) SEGO of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law Lucille SEGO in Texas; nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by members of Bib’s family including nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law Vera COMBS of Redding, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Harold SEGO.

Memorials are to the Redding United Methodist Church.
