OBITUARY - J. W. MILLER.

John William MILLER, son of James A. and Susan MILLER, was born in Rockridge county, Virginia, January 2, 1852, and departed this life at his home in Redding Iowa, December 12, 1933, age 81 years, 11 months and 10 days.

In the fall of 1856 he with his parents moved to Worth county, Missouri, and in the spring of 1864 moved to Ringgold county, Iowa. More than 77 years of his life was spent within three miles of Redding. In March, 1877, he was united in marriage with Mary HARDEN. To this union was born one son, Roy A. MILLER, now of Billings, Montana. Mrs. MILLER passed away November 15, 1879.

He was later united in marriage with Emma HARDEN. To this union six children were born - Mrs. Henry LAHS, now deceased; Mrs. E. C. SHEUMAKER, of Mount Ayr; James A., J. Ray, Thomas J., and Mrs. O[wen]. B. GRIFFITH, all of Redding, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, 16 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers and other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held in Redding Methodist church Friday, December 15, at 2 o'clock p. m., conducted by Rev. WARRIOR, after which the body was laid to rest in the Redding cemetery.

NOTE: Susan E. MILLER, John's mother, was born on March 21, 1829, and died on January 24, 1906. His father, James A. MILLER, died December 2, 1902. They were interred at Redding Cemetery, Redding, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Emma A. (HARDEN) MILLER, John's second wife, was born in 1863, and died in 1943 with interment at Redding Cemetery. Of John William and Emma A. (HARDEN) MILLER's children: Ada (MILLER) LAHS, a twin, was born a twin of on January 2, 1883, and died on February 18, 1932, interment at Redding Cemetery; James A. MILLER was born in 1884 and died 1974, interment at Redding Cemetery; J. "Ray" MILLER was born in 1885 and died in 1953, interment Redding Cemetery; Thomas J. MILLER was born on May 30, 1888, and died September 23, 1958 with interement at Redding Cemetery; and Emma B. (MILLER) GRIFFITH was born in 1891 and died in 1956 with interment at Redding Cemetery.

Thomas J. MILLER and his wife Olive E. (HOFFMAN) MILLER died on September 23, 1958 at Sauk Center, Stearns County, Minnesota, as a result from an automobile accident. Olive was born on February 6, 1890.
