Class of 1956 Reunion

The Mount Ayr High School class of 1956 held their 58th anniversary of graduation May 23 and 24, 2014. On Friday evening, we met at the Wagon Wheel Cafe in Tingley and enjoyed a delicious buffet. The group enjoyed visiting, picture taking and an update from the classmates present. Information was shared with the group from the following classmates who had written or phoned with regrets they could not attend -- Kay (Willey) Swallow, Don Thompson, Bill Saltzman, Sue (Horne) Ashley, Marcia (Rogers) Miller, and Janice (Todd) Richman.

The group missed our Home Economics Instructor - Grace Moser - who was unable to attend.

Saturday evening several attended the Alumni Banquet at the School Commons.

Those classmates attending from out-of-state were: Gary Green from Sherman, TX, Donald Hensley and wife, Edith, from Kansas City, MO; Sue (Terwilliger) Ruckman from Branson, MO, and son, Chris, from Centerville, IA; and Gary Wells and wife, Karen, from Henderson, NV. Those attending from Mount Ayr were: Larry Brown and wife, Joen; John Campbell and wife, Rose; Pattie (Culver) Foltz and husband, Phil; Louise (Faris) Stamper; Georgia (McHenry) Brand and husband, Paul; Bob Pottorff and wife, Mary Ann; and Larry Sickels. Other Iowans attending were: Gary Campbell and wife, Jean, from Leon; Betty (Endsley) Whitson from Newton; Beatrice (Grindstaff) Scroggie from Blockton; Leila (Hacker) Niday from Marengo; Ruth Alice Potter from Davenport; Hyatt Rice and wife, Darleen, from Creston; and Lester Junior Wion and wife, Kathryn, from Des Moines.

We missed the class members who were not present and hope all will be able to attend in two years for our 60th. The classmates who live locally will plan the next reunion.
