SOCIAL COLUMNS

BEACONSFIELD:

October 21 - Medames Gladys MOORE and Neva GRIMM were joint hostesses to the Mothers' club at the home of Mrs. MOORE Wednesday. A delicious one o'clock covered dish dinner was served. The afernoon was spent embroidering tea towels. Guests were Mesdames Ruby GILTNER, Roy RIEDLE, Naomi BRYANT, Alice BOYD Mary SPEELMAN and Mrs. PADGETT. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Mae DAVIS November 6.

Mrs. Alice NEWMAN entertained the Ladies' Aid society at a tea Friday afternoon. About 30 ladies were present. Mrs. Russell BARBOUR will be hostess to the society Thursday, October 24. All ladies are invited.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy REIDLE, of Chariton, were visitors at the home of their granddaughter, Mrs. K. T. HOLLAND and family, last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard GILREATH, Patty and Dorothy, of Osceola, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond DOTY and Betty, of Afton, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. FOUSER, Gloria and Kenneth, spent Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Bertha DOTY.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester ROGERS and children, of Winterset, were Sunday visitors at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. MOORE.

Mr. and Mrs. H. K. BAKER motored to Clearfield Sunday to visit with her mother, Mrs. J. DOUBET, and to help her celebrate her 82nd birthday.

Mrs. Bess KITSELMANN, John and Ruth, of Des Moines, were Sunday visitors at the home of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Mildred HOLLAND and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilford STETZLER, Mrs. Carrie STEZLER and Maxine and Mrs. ALLEN, of Kansas City, Mo., were week end visitors at the home of their sister and daughter, Mrs. Orville POOR.

Jack WARD went to Des Moines Friday to visit with his sister and brother, Mary Catherine and Maurice WARD.

Mrs. J. C. BURKHEIMER, of Thayer, has been visiting with her daughters, Mrs. Leon DUSENBERRY and Mrs. Odell LAMB, the past two weeks.

ELLSTON:

October 21 - Henry MILLER, of Orient, came Sunday and visited at the home of Glen TAGGART and LeGrande MILLER.

Mrs. D. D. WALTERS, Mrs. M. L. VANATTA and son and Ruth WOOLLUMS were Mount Ayr visitors Tuesday.

Roy DYKE went to Tabor Saturday after his wife, who had been visiting her brother from Montana at the home of her parents.

Mrs. Rebecca HAYES and Mrs. Gertrude McDOWELL and son, of Muscatine, came Wednesday evening and visted a few days at the Shafter HARRIMAN and J. C. GALE homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry CONE, of Kellerton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed ARNOLD visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bert CONE.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert HULLINGER and family visited Saturday with her other, Mrs. Jane HENDERSON.

Mr. and Mrs. A. A. KANE and family, of Des Moines, brought Mrs. Mabel WHITE and daughter to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. LYONS.

C. W. HUNT and family, of Shenandoah, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis ARNOLD, Mrs. O. S. ARNOLD and son and Mrs. Glen TONEY visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ed ARNOLD.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy ALLEN, of Des Moines, visited Sunday with Berl FENTON and family.

Mrs. Ellen McKIBBEN visited Thursday in Beaconsfield with her sister, Mrs. Christie OWENS and daughter.

The P.T.A. meeting was held last Thursday evening at the school house with a very good program. The music by the high school band was especially enjoyed by all.

Mr. and Mrs. E. B. WIETZKE visited Sunday in Des Moines with relatives.

Mrs. M. L. VANATTA, Dorothy WALTERS and Ruth WOOLLUMS were Winterset visitors Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. B. W. KNIGHT and family visited Snday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. K. KNIGHT.

Mr. and Mrs. Macolm SHOEMAKER and family of Montezuma, came Monday and visited at the home of her sister, Mrs.F. D. ROBISON.

Mr. and Mrs. C. B. MOORE, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd MOORE and family were Mt. Pleasant visitors Saturday and Sunday. Chas. B. MOORE visited the farm where he was born.

Mrs. Berl FENTON and baby returned home Saturday from the hospital at Iowa City.

Mr. and Mrs. Elton LONG and son, of Arispe, visited Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter JACKSON.

Mary and Orus GILBERT, of Beaconsfield, visited Saturday with Burt EPPERSON and family.

GRANT CENTER:

October 21 - Mr. and Mrs. Dean OWENS, of Des Moines, spent the week end at the parental Bert OWENS home.

Mrs. Orville BENTLEY enteretained the Harmony Helpers club Thursday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter GRAHAM and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles GRAHAM and Mabel.

Mr. and Mrs. Merle BROWN, of St. Joseph, Mo., spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank WOOD.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul GRAHAM and sons moved Friday to Diagonal.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry BENDER were Sunday callers at the Frank BENDER home.

LINCOLN:

October 21 - Mrs. Elmer McCREIGHT and Mrs. Floyd WHIPP attended the four-county Sunday school conference at Lenox Wednesday.

Mrs. Ida HENRY, who haas been caring for Mrs. Nancy HAMILTON, returned to her home in Clearfield Wednesday evening.

Mrs. Clyde NEVILL came from her home at Armstrong to help care for Mrs. Lottie NEVILL, who is recovering from pneumonia.

Jimmie and Martin Dean BARNHILL spent Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. McCREIGHT.

Robert ESTEL came Friday from his home at Joyce and will remain for some time with Mr. and Mrs. Tom BLADON.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McCREIGHT went to Clarinda Friday to visit his brother and family and to bring Miss Floy McCREIGHT, who is attending college at Tarkio, Mo., home for the weekend.

About 30 friends of Fred RANCK gathered at his home Friday evening for a surprise on him.

Miss Mildred McCREIGHT returned home Sunday from a two week's visit with friends at Council Bluffs.

Robert ESTEL spent the week end in Lenox with his grandmother.

Mrs. E. O. McCREIGHT and Duane drove to Tarkio, Mo., Sunday, taking Floy McCREIGHT and Dale BROWN back to their work at Tarkio college.

MIDDLE FORK:

October 21 - Mrs. Edna GILBERT'S funeral was held at Middle Fork church Tuesday and burial was in the Middle Fork cemetery. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. WAUGH.

Mrs. Wm. AUSTIN and Violet MILLER attended the Ladies' Aid society meeting at the Lester JACKSON home Wednesday.

Mrs. Clyde WAUGH and Donella MOTSINGER attended the Ladie's aid society meeting at the Sod COMBS home in Mount Ayr.

The box and pie supper and program was well attended at Clipper school house Friday evening.

There was Sunday school at Middle Fork church Sunday. Preaching next Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Everyone come and bring someone with you.

Visitors in the Charley WAUGH home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Joe PHIPPS of Maryville, MO., Mrs. Caroline ANDERSON of Jamestown, Mo., Lloyd WAUGH of New Jersey, Mrs. Elizabeth WAUGH, Mr. and Mrs. Carl WAUGH and family, Mr. and Ms. Floyd JACKSON and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl JACKSON and son, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton WAUGH and Alice DEAN.

SAND CREEK:

October 21 - Mr. and Mrs. Frank NEICE and family moved last week from the COOPER farm to Hopeville.

Mrs. Vinnie FOWLER, Mrs. Clyde LEONARD and Mrs. Jim SMITH attended the funeral Thursday of their brother-in-law and uncle, Melvin BRENIZER, Andover, Mo.

Miss Vera AKERS, Miss Cleta SWIGART, Miss Gladys McGRAW and Miss Ruth SWIGART, all of Mount Ayr, and Ray JENNINGS, of Beaconsfield, spent Sunday at the Clark JENNINGS home.
