64 eighth graders promoted in middle school ceremony

Ten students were named as having the top 10 academic records, 64 eighth grade students were promoted and awards for a number of activities were given when the Mount Ayr Community middle school awards day was held Friday.

Among special awards were those for perfect attendance. Receiving perfect attendance were Brittni GILLESPIE, Jeffrey RISSER, Johanna SCOTT, David SHOWALTER and Matthew SOBOTKA.

The middle school band played music and the middle school choir sang two selections. After the awards were presented, Matt PATTON and John LARSEN passed out the certificates of promotion.
