Deborah Elaine Howard, 42, of Montezuma died suddenly on Tuesday, November 25, 1997 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A funeral was Saturday, November 29 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. Officiating was Rev. Fr. Joseph Rogers of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn.
"One Sweet Day" and "Fly Away" were the musical selections.
Casket bearers were Scott Rinehart, Dean Neitzel, Preston Young, Eldon Snook, Gary Morse and Harold Hester.
Guernsey Cemetery was the place of interment.
Deborah was born March 27, 1955 in Mason City, the daughter of William Austin, Sr. and Elaine (Holtzendorf) Austin. She grew up in the Brooklyn area.
She married Steven Neitzel and they were later divorced.
She moved to Montezuma and on February 25, 1983, she was united in marriage with Michael Howard. She worked at Sig Manufacturing in Montezuma before retiring in September 1988 due to the progression of multiple sclerosis.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Michael of Montezuma; two daughters, Wendi Austin of Guernsey and Angie Neitzel of Montezuma; one granddaughter, Madison Austin of Guernsey; her mother, Elaine Austin of Mason City; two brothers Greg Austin and family of Brooklyn and William (Bill) Austin, Jr. and family of Waterloo and other relatives and many friends.
