Shortly after he left the train at Marshalltown, Jacob Viele, aged 82, of Grinnell, dropped dead of heart disease. He left a sickbed to appear in a damage suit.

Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Feb. 28, 1831 and died Feb. 25, 1913. He is buried in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
