Buford "Red" "Boots" E. Isaac
April 14, 1940 ~ May 8, 2020 (age 80)

Buford Ellis Isaac, also known as “Red”, or in the South, “Boots”, 80, of Grinnell, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, with his family by his side. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will be having a Celebration of Life at a later date. A private family burial will be held. Memorials to St. Francis Manor can be sent to the family or to the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.

Buford was born April 14, 1940, in Lake Providence, LA, the son of Henry Isaac and Millie Mae (Rayles) Isaac. He moved to Iowa, married, and had two sons, Terry and Rodney. He was later divorced. He met Dixie Stevens of Newton, and they spent 27 years together before marrying on March 28, 2003, in Newton. Red worked as a forklift driver for Donaldson’s Muffler in Grinnell for 35 years until he retired on April 1, 2003. He also worked for A1 Fiberglass in Montezuma, mowed several yards at Holiday Lake, and worked for Star Fleet Campers, transporting campers out of state. Red loved spending time with his boys, camping, fishing, being around people, and traveling to the South to see his family every year.

Red is survived by his wife, Dixie of Grinnell; sons, Terry Isaac of Cedar Rapids and Rodney Isaac of Grinnell; his granddaughters, Jessica Wallace of Bettendorf and Mariah Isaac of Des Moines; great-grandsons: Josiah, Micah, and Gabriel Wallace of Bettendorf; his sister, Francis Wuchiet of Plantersville, MS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lillie Baker; and his brother, Corbett Isaac.

The family wishes to thank all the employees of St. Francis Manor and Red’s hospice nurses for all the great care he was given.
