The Death of G. R. Clayton
A Resident of Macedonia and Vicinity for many years
Macedonia, IA Feb. 29--George Price Clayton was born in Greensburg, Decatur County, Indiana, April 6, 1862 and died at his home west of Macedonia February 24, aged 53 years.
Mr. Clayton came to Iowa at the age of 19, living east of Macedonia. The year following his coming to this state he went to Nebraska, where he resided for a year, after which he came to Silver Creek township where he spent the rest of his life.
May 22, 1896, he was united in marriage to Arilla Wood. To this union seven children were born, one whom died in infancy.
The deceased leaves a widow and six children, three sons, Forrest, Leon, and Elton, and three daughters, Ida, Mildred, and Laras. Besides, he leaves four brothers, E.F. Clayton of Julesburg, Colo., J.R. Clayton of Grayville, Ill., J.E. Clayton of Milo, IA and J.A. Clayton of Windside, Neb.
For thirty years, Mr. Clayton has been an honored and consistent member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a member of the Macedonia Lodge.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Macedonia, Sunday afternoon, February 27, under the auspices of the order to which he belonged.
The sermon was preached by the pastor of the church. Interment was in the Macedonia cemetery, where the ritual service of the Odd Fellows was conducted by Brothers: C.H. McCready and M.A. Stenpel, and the Rev. Baugh of Henerson, IA.
