The Rev. M. T. Tweedy, pastor of the Fifth Avenue and Epworth Methodist Churches, brief mention of whose death was made in yesterday's paper was 31 years of age. His death was very sudden, being caused by heart trouble. Sunday he was as well as usual, but was exceptionally tired when he went to bed, having had a very hard day's work. Aside from conducting four church services, at two of which he preached, he officiated at a wedding and had charge of the funeral service for Mrs. Hollenbeck. About 1 o'clock in the morning Mrs. Tweedy was awakened by her husband's heavy breathing and immediately summoned physicians, but to no avail, as Mr. Tweedy died within a few minutes.

Mr. Tweedy was born in Iowa county Nov. 28, 1865. He had been in Council Bluffs only a few months, coming here last September, but during that short time he and his estimable wife have made many warm friends. He was a faithful and energetic worker and was doing much to forward the interests of the two congregations under his charge. After being ordained Mr. Tweedy's first charge was at Crescent City and then, in turn, he was given charges at Hillsdale, Persia and Panama, being finally sent to Council Bluffs at the last meeting of the conference. He leaves a wife and one child, a 3-year-old daughter.

Funeral service will be held at the Fifth Avenue Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock. conducted by the Rev. W. S. Hooker.

The funeral obsequies of Rev. M. T. Tweedy were held at the Fifth Avenue M. E. Church at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The church was crowded to its utmost capacity by the friends of the deceased who gathered from all parts of the city to honor the memory of the man whom they loved.

The services were conducted by the following clergymen: Revs. D. C. Franklin, J. H. Senseney, C. W. Brewer, James Simms, Mr. Goodell, C. Hover, Mr. Foss of Little Sioux and A. F. Conrey of Manilla, who also acted as pall-bears. The tributes were all very touching. The music was by the church choir, and among the selections rendered was the hymn, "I Shall be Satisfied." These words were the subject of Rev. Tweedy's last sermon, and those who heard him on that occasion say it was his master effort. The impression the sermon made prompted the choir to sing the selection.

There were many beautiful floral offerings laid on the casket. At the conclusion of the services the body was taken to Brooklyn, Ia., for interment. Several of the ministers and a number of friends accompanied Mrs. Tweedy and her little daughter on their sad trip.
