Stella Mariam Ryan, born Christmas Eve, 1920, to Porter and Lavina Chelsvig near Kelly, Iowa, was a special gift to her family.
She married her loving husband, Edward, November 1, 1944. They were blessed with 65 years together and had four children, Daniel, Steven, Linda and Timothy.
Stella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life revolved around caring for her family and others. She was very active in her church where she sang in the choir, helped with Vacation Bible School, enjoyed the fellowship of women's circle group, and was a volunteer at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. She lived a life of serving and was always there for those who needed her. Her smile would light up, and touch many - even through her journey with Alzheimer's, where she was lovingly cared for at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.
We are so thankful for the loving example set by our parents, and they will be in our hearts forever.
Stella is survived by her children; Steven (Nola), Linda (Richard) Fawcett, and Timothy, her brothers; Clyde Chelsvig and Ronald Chelsvig, her grandchildren; Susan Ryan, Peter Christopher, Sean Perkovich, Christopher (Mary) Ryan, Courtney (David) Lienemann, Chad (Chelsea) Ryan, Jennifer (Nathan) Dishman, Lindsay (Trent) Kulig, great-grandchildren; Kaydence and Hudson Dishman, Ryker and Asher Kulig, Sydney and Samuel Ryan, and Ava Lienemann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, son, Daniel, and brothers, Orvis and Robert Chelsvig.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Association.
