Curtis N. Smith, 84, of Ankeny went to be with his Lord and Savior, suddenly, on January 1, 2014.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Saylorville Church (6429 NW 6th Dr., Des Moines, IA). A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00p.m., Friday January 3, 2014, also at the Church.

Curtis was born July 1, 1929 in Mark, Iowa.

He retired in 1993, from DMACC, where he worked as an instructor.

Curt was a member of Saylorville Church, and of the Pioneers club at DMACC. He enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, giving away his creations, and attending his Tuesday morning bible study.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette, his children; Tim (Nancy) Smith, Judy (Stuart) Mauseth, Deb (Terry) Althoff, David (Sherri) Smith, Sherry (Mike) Whisler, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Gertie, a brother, Bernard, and a sister Averil Gray.
