Douglas Kirk Koon, age 54 of West Des Moines, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Private family funeral services will be held at McKeever Cemetery near Colfax, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family and checks made payable to Mary Koon. Memorials may be mailed to the funeral home at 24 W Howard Street Colfax, Iowa 50054.

The son of Raymond Dean and Mary Joan (Williams) Koon, Doug was born on April 2, 1971 in Des Moines, Iowa. Doug graduated from Hoover High School in 1989. Following graduation, he attended the University of Iowa where he graduated with a degree in Business. Doug was an outstanding track runner both in high school and the University of Iowa. He also enjoyed golfing.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Mary; a niece, Angela (Jon) Stevens; a nephew, Tyler (Nicole) Kinkade and five great nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his father, his sister, Nancy Kinkade and two uncles, Ralph and Keith Williams.
