Rob James Sinclair
January 9, 1968 - August 31, 2025

Robbie "Rob" James Sinclair, of Altoona, passed away on August 31, 2025. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 6:00 PM at 5480 NE 3rd St, Des Moines, Iowa 50313. There will be food provided but please bring a lawn chair and whatever you'd like to drink. Feel free to wear your favorite racing shirt or something casual. Memorials may be made out to Rob's family with checks payable to Bernice Kain. If you wish to send a card you may address it to, "Attn: Rob Sinclair, Coburn Funeral Homes, 24 W Howard St, Colfax, IA 50054."

The son of John Frazier and Bernice (Smith) Kain, Rob was born in Des Moines on January 9, 1968. After graduating from high school, he took up a job as an end loader operating heavy machinery at a quarry. Outside of work Rob enjoyed mushroom hunting, riding motorcycles, and anything to do with sprint car racing.

His love of sprint cars ran deep. He attended the races at Knoxville religiously. Rob was an outgoing guy who could talk to anyone, there was no such thing as a stranger to him. The tattoo on his arm said it all, a feather with the word "free spirit." Throughout the years he made many friends at the races. Eventually he sponsored a car. Rob was extremely proud to see the Sinclair Motorsports car on the track.

Those left to honor Rob's memory include his mother, Bernice (Daniel) Kain; a brother, Jack Sinclair; a sister, Marcie (Terry) Findlow; and another brother, DJ (Anjelica) Kain; two stepbrothers, Nathan (Laura) Kain and Chad (Chauncy) Kain; a grandfather, Bob Squaires; as well as nieces and nephews, TJ Findlow, Zach Findlow, Emma Findlow, Caleb Kain, Elena Kain, Alexander Kain, Jayden Kain, Macie Kain, Reece Kain, Coralee Kain, and Collette Kain.

Preceding Rob in death was his father, John Frazier; and his grandparents, Bert and Marcella Smith and Grace Squaires.
