John C. "Mike" Miksell, 67, of Crestview Terrace in West Des Moines died Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Mercy West Lakes Medical Center in West Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, December 20 at Iles Westover Chapel. Cremation will follow visitation and a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, at Westover Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Mike was born in Des Moines on October 26, 1946, to John J. and Rosalita (Smith) Miksell. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He worked for Fawn Engineering before becoming a station operator at Iowa Power and Light Company, retiring in 1994.

Mike is survived by two daughters, Pam Miksell of Des Moines and Michelle Miksell (Will) of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters, Alaya and Laila; and six siblings, Richard (Diane) Miksell of Des Moines, Marilyn Terry of West Des Moines, Marlene (Rex) Mott of West Des Moines, Mary (Jim) Watermiller of Belmond, Marcia (Rick) Nelson of Des Moines and Melanie (Ron) Holsinger of Woodward. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Kimberly; and two infant brothers.
