Bonnie Lee Cramblit, 80, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with burial following at Pine Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral Home.
Bonnie was born January 3, 1931 in Seymour, Iowa to Dora and Gay Allen. She worked for the Des Moines public school in the food service department for 34 years and was known as the "greatest lunch lady" in history. Bonnie was a fantastic cook and was known for her wonderful cookies, at one time baking 27 different varieties. She was the true "matriarch" of her family and was a living example of how to live a good life. Bonnie was a member of the Park Avenue Christian Church for 58 years.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Donald (Gwen) Cramblit; Lois Brazelton; her 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn and brothers, Glen Allen, K Dean Allen and sisters, Wanda Wood and Wilda Huffman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Park Avenue Christian Church.
