Obituary for SIMMIE J HILLIARD
Simmie J. Hilliard, 86, of Valley View Village died of a heart ailment there Tuesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Evangelical Covenant Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Hilliard was born in Jacksboro, Texas, and had lived in Oregon before moving to Des Moines in 1962. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with Valley View Village and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Roberta Hoover of Council Bluffs; a brother, James of Chelsea, MI; a sister, Essie Mae Sorenson of Axtell, UT; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call an hour prior to the time of services Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to his church. McLaren's Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. The Des Moines (IA) Register 04 April 2002.
