Sharon Kreft, 73, entered heaven on March 6, 2012, surrounded by family and friends at Legacy Pointe Care Center in Waukee after a 13-year struggle with Parkinson's disease. Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 37th and University, on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Sharon was a Des Moines native, the daughter of Albert and Audrey Riley, and a talented pianist and singer. A Lincoln High School and Simpson College graduate, she taught music in a number of elementary schools in the Des Moines area and on public television in its early days. Sharon also taught business courses at Valley High School before her retirement.

Sharon loved to read and study the Bible and was very involved as a music and worship leader in the music ministries of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years. Always a kind and gracious lady, she will be missed by everyone.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 40 years, Keith, and two children, Brad and Tara, along with three grandsons, one granddaughter, and two great-grandsons whom she dearly loved and whose spiritual lives were the most important thing to her.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at IlesCares.com.
