Cecelia E. Critchfield passed away peacefully just shy of her 98th birthday on August 26, 2011, at University Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Cecelia was born September 10, 1913, in Creston, Iowa, to Edward and Anna Sullivan. She retired from the State of Iowa at the age of 75. Cecelia was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society. She, along with her husband, was a longtime member of Justo Hijo Magic Club. Cecelia will be remembered for her spunky nature and the incredible meals and desserts she prepared.

Cecelia is survived by her daughters, Cleo Dawson and Susan (David) Thompson; son-in-law, Bill Kearney; longtime family friend, Dean Dawson; grandchildren, Leann (Arthur Fleming) Dawson, Kelly (Kevin) Nolan, Patrick (Peggy) Kearney and Lori (Kurt Weeks) Dawson-Weeks; and great-grandchildren, Nate, Noah, Nash and Drew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thad Critchfield, daughter, Sandy Kearney; and her brother, Vincent Sullivan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street,. with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orchard Place.
