Diane Anstine, 81 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Diane's family will be having private funeral services. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in rural Le Mars, Iowa. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to your local hospice in memory of Diane.

Diane Lee Durr was born on February 12, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Carl Sr. and Lorraine (Thoms) Durr. She was raised in Merrill, attending elementary and middle schools. She then attended and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1963.

Diane was united in marriage to Wayne Anstine on July 27, 1968, at Merrill Methodist Church. They lived briefly in Clovis, New Mexico, during a brief military station and then made their home in Le Mars.

Diane's work history included working at the Le Mars Daily Sentinel and Le Mars Community Schools. She began at the Daily Sentinel right out of high school and worked there for twenty years. She worked as a reporter and eventually assistant editor, filling in other roles as needed. In 1988, she began working for the school district in the Middle School as an aide in the library and did so until her retirement in 2008.

Diane enjoyed bowling and participated in league. She had a love for Elvis and had great memories of her trip to Graceland. And she had a special place in her heart for pets, with many beloved dogs in the family over the years.

Their family enjoyed camping, working their way from using a tent to eventually a fifth wheel trailer. Favorite area spots included Storm Lake, Correctionville, and various Iowa campgrounds. In their retirement, Wayne and Diane used their fifth wheel to spend their winters in Texas and Arizona. Wayne and Diane also enjoyed weekend get-aways across the Midwest where they would explore the local antique stores and historic sites.

Diane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne; three children: Jason (Kelli) Anstine of Lenexa, KS, Nikki (Nick) Hoss of Le Mars, IA, and Matt (Kathryn) Anstine of Lee's Summit, MO; grandchildren: Mabel Anstine, Simon Anstine, Abigail Hoss and Benjamin Hoss; siblings: Carl (Donna) Durr Jr., Jeanette Durr, Marlene Clarey, and Delores (Steve Arens) Lancaster; siblings-in-law: Dennis 'Bee' (Lynette 'Susie') Anstine and Dave (Vicki) Anstine; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents: Carl Sr. and Lorraine (Thoms) Durr; parents-in-law, Earl 'Whistle' and Bernice (Twogood) Anstine; sister, Fran Durr; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Georgia) Anstine.
