Scott Bresnahan, 70, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, in his home in Le Mars.

Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Scott Richard Bresnahan, the son of Richard and Gloria (Schroder) Bresnahan, was born on November 26, 1955, in Ida Grove, Iowa. At a young age, he moved with his family to Sioux City. He attended grade school at St. Joseph Catholic School, graduated high school from Heelan, and completed his Catholic education at Briar Cliff University with a degree in business. He was very involved in the Catholic church at a young age.

Scott worked various jobs in Sioux City before realizing his inclination in work as a maintenance-electrician for I.B.P., followed by Smurfit. He worked there for over 20 years before retiring.

He was united in marriage to Gaylin Carpenter on July 30, 1983, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City until 2022, when they moved to Le Mars to be closer to his grandchildren.

Scott enjoyed all things Sci-Fi. He attended many conventions throughout his life, including being the guest of honor at Willycon in 2016. He had an appreciation for astronomy and purchased a telescope to share his love of the night sky with his family. He also enjoyed taking family vacations every year and tinkering.

Living in memory by his wife, Gaylin of Le Mars; 3 children: Angie (Will) Kliment of Le Mars and their children, Zadie and Maddox, Richard (Lani) Bresnahan of Plant City, FL, and Jessica (Matt) Bresnahan-Smith of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters: Julie Miller of Remsen, IA, and Karen Bresnahan of Evergreen, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are his sons-in-law, Will Kliment and Matt Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Gary Miller.
