Edward Richardson, 66, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Merrill United Methodist Church in Merrill. Reverend Merrill Muller will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.

Edward Ivan Richardson was born September 8, 1951 in St. Peter, Minnesota, the son of James and Helen (Ahlstrom) Richardson. He resided with his family in Le Sueur, Minnesota until the age of 5, when he moved with his family to Whiting, Iowa. He attended school in Whiting and graduated from Whiting High School in 1970. Following high school, he did an apprenticeship in fire sprinkler systems with Local 669.

Ed was united in marriage to Sue Lawrence on September 4, 1971 in Onawa, Iowa. They made their home in Colorado and then back in Iowa. In 1976, they moved to Le Mars.

Ed worked for over 40 years in the Fire Sprinkler System industry, ten years of which he owned and operated his own company, Dependable Fire Protection. He retired in 2011.

He was an active member of Merrill United Methodist Church, where he served on several boards. He was also a member of Local 669 Union. Through the years, he enjoyed golfing, working on cars, woodworking, gardening, and putting puzzles together. But most of all, he loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson.

Survivors include his wife of over 46 years, Sue of Le Mars; a daughter: Angel (Robert) Vande Hoef of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Holly and Casey; a daughter: Amber (Clint) Faust of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Calin and Kyler; a daughter: Alyssa (Nathan) Kistner of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Rebecca, Natalie, and Aaron; a son: Josh (Tonia) Richardson of Merrill, IA, and their children: Hannah, Caitlyn and her son, Carsen, Chaylee, BreAuna, and Keanen; his brother: James (Denise) Richardson of Whiting, IA; two sisters: Roberta Duzan of Le Sueur, MN, and Dorothy Cooper of Blair, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Helen Richardson; two brothers: Bill and Scotty; a sister: Harriett Lunda; his father and mother in law: Don and Doris Lawrence; two brothers in law: Floyd Duzan and David Lawrence; a sister in law: Rhonda Richardson; a nephew: Ryan Lawrence; and a niece: Lisa Martin.
