Susan ‘Sue’ Marie Crowley, 62 of Le Mars, IA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 11, 2025 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial Service will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars with Father Doug Klein officiating. A private family burial will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and continue until the service time.
Susan Marie Schroeder was born on April 11, 1963 in Estherville, IA, the daughter of Harvey and Dorothy (Resfell) Schroeder. Sue grew up in Estherville and graduated from Estherville High School in 1981. She began her career at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville right after graduation. She then worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. In 1982, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she continued her work at Good Samaritan before joining Citi Bank.
Sue welcomed her daughter, Mallory, in 1987. In 1990, they made Le Mars their home. Sue then worked at Harkers for five years before dedicating three decades to Wells Blue Bunny where she worked until her health declined. Her caring nature and strong work ethic touched the lives of her coworkers and everyone she served daily.
Sue met Dan Crowley on a blind date set up by dear friends in 1991. From that moment, their connection grew quickly, and their love story began to unfold. In 1992, they were married and from then on, they journeyed through life side by side. Together, they lovingly raised their family, supporting each other through every season. Their deep love and unwavering partnership brought comfort, strength, and joy to all who knew them.
Along with their daughter, Dan and Sue welcomed their son Dillion in 1994. She found great happiness in watching their family grow. She was a proud grandmother to Vincent, Kenzie, Oakley, Draven, and Brody Lewis; she loved and cherished every moment spent with each of them. Known for her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit, she touched the lives of everyone who encountered her. Her love and compassion will be deeply missed by her family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Crowley of Le Mars; her father, Harvey Schroeder of Estherville; her daughter, Mallory Reiter of Le Mars; her son, Dillon (Kenedy) Crowley of Le Mars; her grandchildren: Vincent, Kenzie, Oakley, Draven, and Brody Lewis; her sister, Lorri (Dick) Beaver of Estherville; nephew: Chris (Sara) Beaver of Sherburn, MN and their children: Ryan and Tori Beaver of Jackson, MN; niece, Amanda (Corey) Hallett of Spencer, IA and their children: Trenton and Taytym Hallet; nephew, Kiel Mamann; niece, Olivia (Brandon) Kollasch; brother in law, Mark (Cindi) Crowley; numerous extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Schroeder; brother, Todd Schroeder; parents in law, Wayne and Dorothy Crowely; and her brother in law, Tim Crowley.
