Bertram H. Copenhaver, 79, of LeMars died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1993, at Marian Health Center, Sioux City.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in LeMars with Rev. Gordon Rhodes officiating. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Copenhaver was born April 4, 1913, at Middletown, Mo., the son of Harry Lee and Cannie (Hendricks) Copenhaver. He graduated from high school at Glidden High and received a degree in English at the University of Illinois. On May 18, 1945, he married Margaret L. Scott in Gulfport, Miss.
He worked as a publication supervisor for Ford Auroneutronics and after his retirement, he wrote novels and short stories. Mr. Copenhaver was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy on the USS Minnesota in the Pacific Ocean. He was a member of the Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars David Sherman Post #713 at Port Westmont, N.J.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, David Copenhaver and his wife, Susanne of LeMars, and Jay P. Herman and his wife, Lynn of Collingswood, N.J.; and a sister, Barbara Pickering of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
