Note: His mother's maiden name is Peterson.

J. C. Bredall, a resident of Akron vicinity for more than fifty years, passed away at his home in this city, Wednesday morning, January 16, 1935, after an illness of about seven weeks of heart trouble and complications aged nearly 78 years.

Jens Christianson Bredall was born in Kirkeby, Hoptrup, North Schleswig Denmark, on March 15, 1857. He came to the United States in the year of 1876, and the following year his parents, three brothers and three sisters came to this country to join him in making a home. The father purchased a farm in Union county, South Dakota, and there the family worked together, enduring many hardships, such as severe winters, grasshopper plagues, etc., and they built up a wonderful home on the large farm of 630 acres.

As the children became of age, they married and established homes on farms of their own. On July 5, 1891, J. C. Bredall was united in marriage with Miss Dagmar Nilson, and this union was blessed with three children. In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Bredall retired from the active duties of the farm and purchased a home in Akron, where they have since resided.

He is survived by his widow, Dagmar Bredall; two sons, Andrew Bredall, of Akron; and Dewey Bredall, of Burke, S. D.; one daughter Mrs. Andrew Bogh of LeMars, Iowa, and five grandchildren; also by two cousins, Hans Bredall, of St. Louis, Mo., and Jens Bredall of Miles, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bredall was the only remaining member of this pioneer family, having been preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

A man of strict integrity, industrious and of genial personality, a kind and devoted husband and father and a loyal neighbor and friend, Mr. Bredall gained the esteem and respect of all who knew him. A host of friends extend sympathy to their bereaved family.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home, conducted by Rev. C. W. Samuelson, of Immanuel Lutheran church. Two duets were sung by Ruth Samuelson and Lois Claassen. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives and near friends who came from a distance were; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey J. Bredall and daughter of Burke S. D.; Bredall and Mrs. Andrew Bogh and daughter of LeMars; Mr and Mrs. Lou Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew (Anna) Juhl, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lund, Mrs. Ed Dornbusch and Marius Bogh of Le LeMars; Miss Bessie Juhl of Sioux City.
