LAST RITES FOR CARL W. ERICKSON HELD TUESDAY

Former Akron Man Was A Veteran Of First World War

Carl W. Erickson of Sioux City, a former resident of Akron vicinity, died Saturday, March 8, 1958, in the Veterans’ Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., where he had been a patient since February 17, age 62 years, 4 months and 1 day.

Carl William Erickson was born November 7, 1896, in Plymouth county, Iowa. He farmed in the Akron area until moving to Sioux City. He was an overseas veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. infantry in France, and was a member of Shull Post, 580, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Monahan Post, 114, American Legion in Sioux City. He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Survivors include a brother, Edwin of Sioux City, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Miller and Mrs. Ella Boetger, both of Akron.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran church, of Akron. Rev. Alfeld Franzen, of Immanuel Lutheran church Sioux City, officiating. Mrs. Milton Anderson was vocalist and Mrs. Henning Shoulberg was organist. Pallbearers were Donald Boetger, Gerald Erickson, Arden Boetger, William Miller, Arnold Erickson and Leonard Halweg. Military graveside rites in Riverside cemetery were conducted by Hosehler Post, 186, American Legion Akron.
