Services Held for Louis Schuknecht Here June 26th

Funeral services for Louis Schuknecht were held Thursday morning, June 26, at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Melvin Thur officiated at the services.

Pallbearers were Eugene Schuknecht, Charles Miller, Delbert Schuknecht, Clarence Hattermann, Bentley Puhrmann and E. W. [Emil Willis] Hattermann. Two hymns were sung by the congregation with Mrs. James Meyer as organist.

Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery with Gaudian Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Obituary

Louis C. Schuknecht, son of Fred Schuknecht and Sophie nee Lange, was born on January 2, 1883, in Lansing, Illinois. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Lansing by the Rev C. Noack. He was educated and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Germantown on March 29, 1896 by the Rev. Jacob Horn. Following his education he started to work on a farm which continued to be his livelihood during his working days.

In March of 1907 he was united in marriage to Anna Hattermann. God blessed this union with two children. In 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Schuknecht retired and moved to Paullina. On March 31, 1957 they had the happy occasion to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

About two weeks ago Mr. Schuknecht had the misfortune to fall and break his hip. He was taken to the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa. Later he was transferred to the St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City where he passed away on Monday of this week at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 21 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife, Anna, two children, Mrs. Irene Ebert of Marcus and one son, Sylvan of Cleghorn. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was the last remaining member of a family of 13.
