Died, of appendicitis at his home in Sanborn, Iowa, on Friday, January 26, 1900, Thos. A. Helman. Mr. Helman had been sick for some time and about a week before his death, and operation was performed, by thus doing it was hoped his life would be saved, but it was not so.

Thos. A. Helman was born at Rock Falls, Iowa, February 17, 1867, and was nearly 93 years old at the time of his death. He came to this town in 1885. Was married to Miss Amanda Anderson May 14, 1889, and leaves a wife and three children and his mother, who mourn the loss of a devoted son, a loving and thoughtful husband and father, who manifested his care for his family by industry and economy, thus making provision for those he loved. He was a member of the Masonic order,a Woodman of the World, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. In the latter two orders he carried life insurance of $2000 and $1500 respectively, which will, in some measure, compensate the family for the loss they have sustained.

Mr. Helman was an engineer at the time of his death, a good citizen and neighbor and all join in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

The services were held in the Presbyterian church Sunday at 2:00 p.m., and were conducted by the Masons, Rev. Caswell preaching the sermon. A large crowd assembled at the church. Many beautiful flowers decked the church and asket arranged by kind and loving hands. After the services at the church, the remains were laid to rest in the Roseland cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
