Elizabeth (Betty) Porter;March 21, 1922 - February 20, 2017
Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Lieb) Porter was born in Alton, Iowa, on March 21, 1922, to Gideon and Ellen (Meylor) Lieb. She graduated from Archer High School in Archer, Iowa, in 1939 and from the Academy of Cosmetology in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1940.

Betty married Gerrit (Bob) Porter on September 23, 1940. They had four sons and continued to live on the farm near Hospers, Iowa, for 41 years. After retiring, Betty and Bob moved to West Lake Okoboji. In 1990 they moved to rural Milford, eventually moving to Spencer in 2004. Betty spent her later years at Heritage Landing and Hawkeye Assisted Living in Milford.

She passed away on February 20, 2017, at Hawkeye Care Center in Milford at the age of 94.

A woman with many talents and interests, Betty loved to sing, knit, explore the arts through her painting and poetry writing. She shared her talents by singing at weddings and funerals as well as in choral groups; she was also a 4-H leader and a Sunday school teacher for many years

Betty is survived by her sons: David (Betty) of Everett, WA; Robert (Barbara) of Milford, IA; and Randal (Linda) of Hospers, IA; five grandchildren: Michael (Dawn) Porter, Issaquah, WA; Dan (Lisa) Porter, Mukilteo, WA; Angela Porter (Mat Riggle), Duvall, WA; Paul (Katie) Porter, Ames, IA; and Holly (Seth) Still, Chanhassen, MN; and six great grandchildren children: Kara and Ryan Porter, Issaquah, WA; Samantha and Jacob Porter, Mukilteo, WA; Garrett Porter, Ames, IA; and Chloe Riggle, Duvall, WA; and her sister-in-law, Leona Sauer, Sheldon, IA

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her son, Duane at age 6; her parents; her sisters Nancy Howry and Kassy Mo
