Doris Eva (Anderson) Cummings, the daughter of Lawrence and Addie (Brundage) Anderson, was born near Sanborn, Iowa on November 25, 1900. She lived her youth and received her education at Sanborn. When she was fourteen years old, she moved with her family to Salix, Iowa, and then later returned to the Primghar, Iowa area.

Doris was united in marriage to Clyde Cummings on February 22, 1924, at Primghar, Iowa, and to this union three children were born. Following their marriage they farmed near Primghar. They later resided in Sanborn and Paullina while Clyde was employed with the Iowa State Highway Commission. He died in 1965.

Doris entered the Senior Wellness Center at Hartley, Iowa in March of 1990 and she died there on September 8, 1999, at the age of 98 years, nine months and thirteen days.

She is survived by two daughters: Audrey Mulder of Raymond, Washington and Marjorie Gross of Sanborn, Iowa; her daughter-in-law Judy Cummings of Atlantic, Iowa; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, James; one brother, Leo Anderson; and two sisters: Grace Walters and Flossie Anderson.

Memorial services were held at the Sanborn Funeral Home on September 11 with Rev. Kenneth Suetterlin officiating. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
