Harry E Bosma (1921-1996)

Harry Bosma, the son of Louis and Della (Koonstra) Bosma, was born in Broeksterwoude, Friesland. His parents immigrated to America with four sons in 1927. During his youth he lived on farms in Osceola County, Iowa. He attended grade schools in The Netherlands and Cloverdale #1 Country School in the United States.

He was united in marriage to Estelle Krikke on July 13, 1944 at Ocheyedan, Iowa. Their entire married life was spent in Sanborn, Iowa, where they owned and operated Harry's Motor.

Harry died at Prairie View Home at Sanborn on June 25, 1996, due to a stroke, at the age of 75 years, 5 months.

He is survived by his six children and their spouses: Larry and Karen Bosma of Sanborn, Sharlene and Vern Anema of Sioux Falls, SD, Darlena and Jan Wassking of Kalispell, montana, Marlene and Jim Anema of Sheldon, Iowa, Jerry and Celia Bosma of Sanborn, and Arlene and Lance Van Beek of Sanborn; 19 grandchildren, two are married; one sister and brother-in-law, Freda and Louie Dekkenga of Ocheyedan, Iowa; two brothers and sisters-in-law: William and Esther Bosma of Sibley, Iowa, and Charlie and Joyce Bosma of Ashton, Iowa; two sisers-in-law: Frances Bosma and Lucy Bosma, both of Sibley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Estelle; three brothers: Clarence, Andrew and Henry.

Harry was a member of Cornerstone Orthodox Reformed Church of Sanborn. He was a member of the Bible Studies, a strong supporter of Christian education, a member of the Cable Board, and a member of the Dutch Psalm Singers. He was a past school board member of the Sanborn Christian School and Western Christian High School. He was a charter member of Hope Haven, past elder of the Christian Reformed Church, and a catechism teacher. He was the Sanborn Centennial Mayor and active in the Republican party.

Special interests were fishing, RV camping and traveling. He was a real handyman and enjoyed work with his hands. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His daily walk with the Lord will be a family legacy left to his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 27 at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn with Rev. Harry Zekveld officiating.

Military graveside rites were by Earl T. Conaway Post #318 American Legion, Sanborn.

Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
