Ernest M. Wester, 61, a resident of the Paullina vicinity since 1907 when he arrived in this country from Sweden, was buried with military honors here Monday afternoon. Mr. Wester though he had been in somewhat ill health, was active until he was taken quite suddenly ill Wednesday and died Friday evening about 6 o'clock. He was a veteran of World War I.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 17 at the Wester home south of Paullina, and at 2:00 at the Siloam Lutheran church here. Burial followed at Prairie View Cemetery. The Rev. K. G. Hatlen was in charge of the services and Russell West Post of the American Legion rendered full military honors. Special music during the service was by the male quartet of Oakdale Evangelical Free church.

Ernest Marcus Wester was born in Gordsjo, Western Rutland, Sweden, on March 28, 1890, the sone of Johan Eric Wester and Augusta Skogman Wester. He died December 14, 1951 at his home at the age of 61 years, 8 months and 14 days.

He came directly to Paullina in 1907 where he has lived since, except for the time he served in the First World War as a member of the 88th Division. He was honorably discharged in the summer of 1919. He returned to Paullina where he continued farming.

On September 7, 1920, he was married to Anna Johnson of Paullina. To them was born one daughter, Gladys Viola, now Mrs. Anthony Bilunas of Sioux City.

He is survive by his wife and daughter, two grandchildren, Donald and Michael Bilunas; three brothers, Knute Wester of Paullina and two brothers and one sister remaining in Sweden.
