Louis Bosma (1896-1987)

Funeral services for Louis Bosma were held February 19 at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley with Rev. Dan Sarkipato officiating. Interment was at Roseland Cemetery at Sanborn with Andringa Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Louis Bosma, son of the late Herre and Gaatske (Vander Veen) Bosma was born January 6, 1896 in Friesland, Netherlands. He lived his youth, attended school and served as a sergeant in the Dutch army in the Netherlands.

He was united in marriage to Della Koonstra of Friesland, Netherlands, on March 25, 1920 in Friesland. They made their home in the Netherlands for seven years before coming to the United States. They moved to the Sibley-Ocheyedan area where they farmed. Della died May 11, 1969.

He was a member of the Sibley Christian Reformed Church where he was a former office holder. He retired from farming and moved to Sibley in February, 1956. On October, 1986, he entered Country View Manor.

He died February 17 at the Osceola Community Hospital at the age of 91 years.

He is survived by four sons: Harry of Sanborn, William and Ancrew of Sibley, Charles of Sanborn; one daughter, Mrs. Louie (Freda) Dekkenga of Ocheyedan, a daughter in law, twenty-two grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ella Bosma of the Netherlands.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons; Henry and Clarence, two grandchildren and five brothers and five sisters.
