Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church at 2:30 PM Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Merritt Omer of Spirit Lake, who passed away at her home Monday at 2:15 P.M. after an extended illness. Services were in charge of Rev. E. Stanworth.
Jessie Eva Omer (nee Ridgel) was born on November 14, 1887 at Jacksonville, Illinois, and passed away at her home at Spirit Lake at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 1940, being in her 53rd year. She was the daughter of James and Margaret (Harwood) Rigdel.
On April 26, 1911, she was united in marriage to Meritt Omer at Camp Point, Illinois. In the same years, Mr. and Mrs. Omer moved to Sanborn, where they resided until about three years ago, when they moved to their present location on Spirit Lake.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, one foster daughter, Mrs. Al. Zimmer of Storm Lake, one brother, Jim Ridgel of San Pedro, California, besides many who have been happy to call her neighbor and friend.
One sister, Mrs. Frank Moran of Saint Louis, Missouri, preceded her in death in 1923.
Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral services were M. and Mrs. D.D. Omer and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Omer of New London, Missouri. The gentlemen were brothers of Mr. Omer, also another brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Omer and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Omer of Spirit Lake. Mrs. Thelma Grafton of Rolfe, Mrs. Hazel Renderman of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Sherman of Eagle Grove, Mr. and Mrs. George Frink of Spirit Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Washburn of Des Moines, Mr. Robert Dickinson of Spirit Lake, Mr. Al Zimmer and daughter, Mercedes of Storm Lake, and Mrs. Lowell Nelson of Eddyville.
