Kenneth V. Schoening, age 80, of Kingman, ZA., formerly of Peterson, Iowa, died May 12, 2011 at Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.

Kenneth "Kenny" Vernon Schoening was born March 2, 1931 to Ann L. Horstman and Henry J. Schoening in Primghar, Iowa. He attended country school, later graduating from Primghar High School.

After his graduation, he enlisted in the United Statees Navy and served as a Troop Transport on the USS General H.W. Buther out of San Diego, California. Kenny was honorably discharged in 1950, moved back to Primghar where he was united in marriage to Rita Rohwer.

Kenny enjoyed hunting, shooting, canoeing, snowmobiling, and listening and dancing to Polka music. He belonged to the Louis Morris Buckskinners, where he enjoyed living in teepees and cooking over open fires. After moving to Arizona, Kenny became an Arizona Diamond Backs fan and enoyed watching their games.

Kenny leaves to cherish his memory one son, Martin Schoening (wife Elaine) of Linn Grove, Iowa; two daughters, Judith Nielsen (husband Christopher), and Jan Barrios, both of Kingman, Arizona; also eight grandchildren [redacted], and four great grandchildren [redacted];many nieces, newphews, family, friend, and a special friend, Mary Barbour who gave him much love and companionship.

Preceding him in death were his parents, infant son Mike, four brothers: Mike, Glen, Orville, and Merlyn; two sisters, Lavon Cochran and Mary Sauer.
