Page 1Mr. Charles Fath, an aged resident of the Harrison neighborhood, received a message Thursday afternoon announcing the death of his brother, Rev. Jacob Fath in Northfield, Minn. Rev. Jacob Fath was well known in Louisa county as he resided on a farm near Wapello until he entered the ministry. Rev. Fath served seventeen years as pastor of the German Congregational church in Muscatine. The present edifice of the German Congregational church in that city was build during his pastorate in 1891, He remained there eight years after the completion of the building, resigning in 1899 to accept a position as financial secretary of a denominational college.
Five years ago the Rev. Mr. Fath retired from active work and for several years he and his wife have resided with their son in Northfield. He was 89 years of age.
The body was brought to Muscatine for burial and services held from the German Congregational church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock in charge of Rev. C. H. Pillasch. Deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, Dr. Edward Fath, an instructor in the Northfield college; Dr. Earl Fath, who is in the employ of the government at Washing, D. C. and one brother, Charles Fath, of Wapello and a sister, Sophia Fath, of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
