Funeral services for Robert W. Statler, 81, Wilton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 27, 1996 at the United Methodist church in Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Kathy Luethye is the organist and pallbearers are Daniel and Eric Werner, Grant, Brad and Ryan Lilienthal, and Darrin Rursch. Honorary pallbearers are Julie Rursch and Lori Rohlfing. Masonic services will be conducted by the Wilton Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in the Overman cemetery, Atalissa.

Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Statler died March 25 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

The son of Lounds and Edna Conrad Statler, he was born Sept. 18, 1914 in Perryville, Mo. He married Zella Smith Nov. 25, 1938 in Burlington.

He was a retired Wilton area farmer. He also drove a gas truck for Farm Service in Tipton.

Mr. Statler was a member of the United Methodist church in Wilton, Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 167 AF and AM, and the Muscatine County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed bowling and other sports.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, JoAnn (Mrs. Donald) Rursch, Taylor Ridge, Ill.; Carol Werner, Wilton; and Sandra (Mrs. Gary) Lilienthal, Durant; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Barks.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Wilton and the Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty.
