Funeral services for Mary Steen, 100, West Liberty, were held March 9, 1996 at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, with the Rev. Darwin Moore officiating. Les Ver Heist was the organist and pallbearers were Wayne Steen, Lyle Waters, Glen Waters, Walter Bein, Warren Bein and George Waters. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.

Mrs. Steen died March 5 at Community Care Nursing Home in Muscatine, following a long illness.

The daughter of Warren and Mary Croxen Melick, she was born Nov. 2, 1895 near Atalissa. She married George Steen Sept. 1, 1920 in Atalissa.

Mrs. Steen was a homemaker and a member of the West Liberty United Methodist church.

She is survived by 3 sons, Fred, Jay and Logan Steen, all of West Liberty; 2 daughters, Ethel Bein, Davenport and Pauline Waters, West Branch; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the West Liberty United Methodist church.
