Funeral services for Christian Ovesen, 100, Wilton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan.17, 1996 at Zion Lutheran church in Wilton, with the Rev. Keith Speaks officiating. Scripture will be read by Rev. Earl Moermond. The organist is James Batchelor. Pallbearers were Herb and Hilbert Ovesen, Leo Grunder, Louis Timmsen, Henry Hansen and Clarence Duffe. Burial will be in the Oakdale cemetery.

Mr. Ovesen died Jan 13 at his home in Wilton.

The son of Wilhelm and Maren Jaspersen Ovesen, he was born April 18, 1895 in Sonder Draby, Denmark. He married Andrea Have March 1, 1924 in Wilton. She died in 1978.

Mr. Ovesen came to the United States April 23, 1912, landing at Ellis Island, N.Y. He resided in Wilton.

He farmed in Muscatine county, retiring in 1955.

Mr. Ovesen served in the U.S. Army in World War I. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Wilton.

He is survived by a son, Harold, Wilton; 2 grandchildren, David Ovesen, Dallas, Texas and Carol Mayberry, Chippewa Falls, Wis. and a great-grandson Amos Mayberry. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Arline Ovesen in 1926; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran church.
